Welcome to KiSTA : Kick Start The Arts, Seaton

KiSTA is a relatively new, non-profit making enterprise, formed as a sub-group – and supported by – the Seaton Visitor Centre Trust.

Our volunteer band of enthusiastic artists and craft makers were initially recruited in early 2009, as a pro-active think tank and facilitator to promote and enrich Seaton, its surrounding villages and the Jurassic Coast, through the broad spectrum of the Arts.

Whilst these original aims remain, they have been slowly expanded to encompass a positive wider role in the community:

• To act as an instigator and facilitator for the provision of creative workshops and community projects

• To act as a link bringing various groups together for the promotion of arts events throughout Seaton and its locality

• To organise and stage an annual Seaton Arts Festival involving a diversity of creative and performance arts throughout the town

• To encourage wider community participation in all areas of the Arts, crossing borders between all disciplines - creative writing; music, theatre and performance; crafts; multi media visual arts

• To encourage an “arts for all” approach, making the participation and appreciation of the Arts accessible to all members of the community, irrespective of age, gender, race or ability.

Our recent launching of the Gateway Gallery - within ”Eve Gallery”, Fore Street – now provides a supportive ‘shop window’ for local artists and crafts makers to exhibit and sell their work in a relaxed and informal setting – and an opportunity for the public to view unique and exciting, contemporary work in Seaton.

Through local support, cooperation and collaboration, KiSTA aims to become an integral pivot in promoting a new era of creative enterprise and artistic community spirit.

New members and associates of KiSTA are always welcome - “many hands…”etc! We try to hold general evening meetings at least once a month and value the input of all our members.
